Red Oak is a city in Ellis County, Texas, United States. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The population was 10,769 at the 2010 census. The North Central Texas Council of Governments projects that number to grow to 63,329 by the year 2030,〔(NCTCOG ) - (Research & Information Services - 2030 Demographic Forecast: Red Oak. ) (NCTCOG). Retrieved 22 March 2006.〕 as it is on the verge of explosive suburban growth. Red Oak was also the exterior location for filming "True Stories", a film by David Byrne of Talking Heads released in 1986. ==Geography== Red Oak is located at . According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all of it land. Adjacent cities are: DeSoto and Duncanville to the Northhwest; Dallas to the North; Ferris to the East; Palmer to the Southeast; Glenn Heights and Ovilla to the West; Lancaster to the North and Northeast; and Waxahachie to the South.
